ABOUT LOUIS-DANIEL JOLY

Louis-Daniel 's 21 years career has crossed musical genres, focusing on Brazilian, Funk and Popular playing the role of both drummer and percussionist. In 1994 he further honed his drumming and percussion skills while attending the University of Québec in Montréal and in 1998 he became the first percussionist ever in Québec to get a Bachelor's degree in Latin and Popular Percussion.

Louis-Daniel has toured, performed or done studio sessions in Canada, the USA and Europe for artists including Cirque du Soleil, Lynda Lemay, Boogie Wonder Band, Monica Freire, El Extasis, Amalgama, Paulo Ramos, Claude Leveillé, The Casino of Montreal, Hart Rouge, André Gagnon, Francesca Gagnon, Mitsou, The McDades, TV shows, Galas and numerous others.

In 2000 Cirque du Soleil asked him to join as a percussionist their latest creation Dralion. He then joined the tour and stayed for 6 years to perform around 2 300 shows in Canada, USA, Mexico, Spain, Germany, Belgium, England, Austria, and many more.

On top of performing for more than 5 Million people during the Dralion tour, his performances were seen on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show, MusiquePlus (French Canadian MTV), the famous Royal Albert Hall in London and was seen on many international TV shows.

Back in Montréal in October 2006, Louis-Daniel started creating new personal projects including the combined use of ethnic percussions transformed, looped, and processed in real time for live application. Louis-Daniel has since performed with Insolita, Justine et Sévrin, Les Pelleteurs de Nuage Valérie Lahaie, The McDades (Juneau Award winner), Amalgama, and numerous other projects and corporate shows in which he acts as musician, actor, producer or composer.

In 2007 he was hired by the Jeunesses Musicales du Canada to perform in a touring percussion show named «Rhythm & Stomp» for kids in schools throughout Canada. He is currently performing, with his partner Bruno Roy, more than a 120 shows a year.

In 2007, he developed for “Jeunesses Musicales du Canada” a new percussion show for schools named the “Rhythm Box”. “Rhythm Box” is a touring percussion workshop in the form of a drum circle for kids in school environment.

In to 2008 he received a grant from Jeunesses Musicales du Canada and Laurentian Bank for his excellent work, show developments and performance in 2007-2008.

In 2008 he became an official endorsee and «International Drum Circle Facilitator» for one the biggest company in the percussion industry, REMO.

In 2008 he founded the company Baratanga.
